FDA defines this as any untoward medical occurrence associated with the use of a product in humans, whether or not considered product related. Suspected adverse reaction means any adverse event for which there is a reasonable possibility that the product caused the adverse event.
In easier terms, an adverse event is anything affecting the physical body or health of the body related to taking/using the product. Some examples are fever, rash, affecting breathing or digestion.
